High Plains Mental Health Center is looking for Recovery Workers at the Schwaller Crisis Center in Hays. Recovery Workers are front-line workers who help patients and their families deal with the everyday challenges of living with a mental health diagnosis. Our goal is to help our clients reduce their symptoms and improve their independent functioning at home, school, work and in the community. Recovery Workers are a major part of that effort.
The Schwaller Crisis Center is a 24-hour crisis stabilization program. This program provides round-the-clock supervision in a home-like setting to provide relief during mental health crisis. It is entirely voluntary and is not hospitalization. Since the facility is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, a variety of shifts are available. PRN or “when needed” status allows for flexible scheduling that easily works around a school or second employment schedule.
Recovery Workers must be at least 18 years of age and should demonstrate the interpersonal skills and experience to be able work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Applicants should possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record with no alcohol-related incidents within the last five years. Must be able to pass an intensive background check before beginning work.
