stencil.defaultHigh Plains, a licensed community mental health center, is dedicated to an aggressive pursuit of providing a comprehensive mental health program to the citizens of Northwest Kansas.
Embodied in this pursuit are fundamental principles of establishing quality services as close to home as possible, at an affordable fee and delivered in the least disruptive manner available. Such services will offer a continuum of care so that treatment can be individualized. Staff will respond quickly and compassionately to those reaching out to us. If you live within our 20-county service area, we’re here for you.

We value, believe, and practice:

  • The delivery of quality services, as close to home as possible, in a manner that is affordable and resource sensitive.
  • That our customer is the client/patient and their community.
  • A continuous quality improvement process focused on effective satisfaction and outcomes of service.
  • A locally governed, administered, and delivered comprehensive community mental health system of service.
  • Individualized treatment and services to assist individuals to live safely within their capacities as independently as they choose.
  • The development, expansion, and sustaining of staff and Center capacities and competencies.
  • Advocacy for our patients and communities focused on their needs and potentials.
  • The importance of prevention and education for communities and individuals.
  • Continuing education and training for our staff.
  • The use of current bio-psycho-social models of treatment and service.

The purpose of the Center shall be those enumerated in K.S.A. 19-4001, et. seq., and shall include, but not be limited to, outpatient diagnostic and treatment services, rehabilitation services to individuals returning to their community from inpatient facilities, consultation services to schools, courts, health and welfare agencies, both public and private, inservice training for students entering professional educational programs relating to mental health, public educational programs, information, and research, and such other purposes as shall qualify the Center for licensing and accreditation as a community mental health center under the laws and regulations of the State of Kansas.
